Up to £65,000 + benefits | Full-time | Permanent | Hybrid (Leicestershire-based, 3–4 days in office)

OVERVIEW

AtkinsClarke are recruiting a Senior Commercial Accountant for a fast-growing, purpose-driven services organisation that operates across multiple UK sites. This is a broad, hands-on leadership role, combining ownership of financial control with the opportunity to drive commercial performance through strong business partnering.

You’ll lead a small team, ensure high-quality reporting, and play an integral role in supporting senior management with insight, analysis, and challenge. It’s a great opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who enjoys variety, visibility, and impact.

COMPANY

This organisation delivers vital services that make a lasting difference in people’s lives. With a strong growth trajectory, underpinned by private investment and a clear strategy for expansion, the business has built a strong reputation for quality, care, and continuous improvement.

Finance sits at the heart of the organisation’s mission - providing the insight and governance that helps front-line services succeed. You’ll be joining a values-led, collaborative team where people are genuinely passionate about what they do.

OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Senior Commercial Accountant will take ownership of monthly reporting, financial governance, and performance analysis for a key division. You’ll manage the transactional finance and management accounting functions while partnering with operational leaders to drive efficiency, accountability, and results.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading month-end close and producing accurate, timely management reporting
  • Delivering P&L and balance sheet analysis with commentary and variance insight
  • Managing and developing a small finance team, providing coaching and guidance
  • Partnering with operational leaders to challenge and support decision-making
  • Overseeing accounts payable, receivable, and VAT returns
  • Maintaining strong controls and governance to support growth
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning alongside FP&A
  • Leading process improvements and optimising use of finance systems
  • Assisting with acquisitions, integrations, and year-end audit preparation

This is a visible, hands-on position within a finance function that’s evolving to support a growing organisation - offering both operational control and commercial exposure.

PERSON

We’re looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) who combines strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness. You’ll be a natural leader, comfortable managing people, processes, and performance while maintaining accuracy and pace.

You will bring:

  • Post-qualification experience in a similar financial management or business partnering role
  • Strong technical understanding of financial reporting standards
  • Proven experience managing month-end and financial control processes
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the confidence to challenge constructively
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with modern accounting systems (e.g. Sage Intacct)
  • Experience within a social care or services-based environment (desirable)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to translate financial data for non-finance stakeholders

OFFER

This is a unique role blending commercial finance business partnering with monthly reporting and supporting the group growth strategy. You will receive:

  • Salary up to £65,000 depending on experience
  • Hybrid working: 3–4 days per week in the Leicestershire office
  • 37.5-hour week with flexibility
  • Opportunity to lead, influence, and grow within a high-performing finance team
  • Exposure to a fast-growing, values-led organisation with private equity backing
